The first Indian film in 30 years, shown at the competition of the Cannes Film Festival
Line of Events
In Mumbai, nurse Prabhas’ daily life is thrown into turmoil when she receives an unexpected gift from her ex-husband. Her younger roommate, Anu, is trying in vain to find a place in the city where she could be intimate with her boyfriend. Director Payal Kapadia and the cast of Everything We Pretend as the World come together to share their most touching reactions from Cannes and more! The film “Everything We See as the World” tells the story of Prabha (Kani Kusruti), a nurse in a hospital in Mumbai, and her younger roommate Anu (Divya Prabha), who also works as a nurse in the same hospital.
“Everything we imagine as the world” is an excellent film
Prabha is torn when she receives an unexpected gift from her ex-husband. Anu tries her best to find the perfect place to spend time with her boyfriend. Screenwriter and director Payal Kapadia perfectly conveys the banality of everyday life. However, she finds magic in everyday life, and it shows in a surprising way in the film.
Kani Kusruti is magnificent as Prabha
There is nothing special about this story, but the technical aspects and execution raise it to a higher level. Cinematography by Ranabir Das is impressive and is the highlight of the film. The subtle image of Kusruti perfectly conveys the inner turmoil of her heroine. Divya Prabha as Anu is magnificent.
The cast is fantastic
Chhaya Kadam is excellent as Parvati. Hridhu Harun is magnificent as Shiaz. “Everything we imagine as the world” is a must-see on the big screen. The film deserves all the awards it has received, and I am so glad that it won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.
