Sheryl Bradshaw, a single woman looking for a suitor on a hit 1970s TV show, chooses charming bachelor Rodney Alcala, unaware that behind the man’s genteel facade, he hides a deadly secret. The IMDb staff has compiled a list of some notable 2024 movies directed by women. Some of Sheryl’s bad experiences as an aspiring actress mirror those of Anna Kendrick herself. The comment about Sheryl’s breasts is “taken verbatim from something that happened to me when I was 19.” The coins stolen from the laundromat are modern-day quarters. 3 different Washington heads can be seen.

These would be national park quarters and later mintage. Well, Cheryl, it’s time to make a decision! Mentioned on CTV News in Six Toronto: Episode of September 8, 2023 (2023). It’s like I could literally feel her own fear and unease
This film does a good job of revealing the ways in which psychopaths often use charm to lure in their victims. I appreciate the fact that the film is by no means a typical horror film or a typical psychological thriller. Most of the violent acts in this film are only portrayed through the events leading up to (or after) them, and much of the actual violence is portrayed indirectly rather than actually shown. It keeps things light enough – and doesn’t show enough actual violence – that the film is still worth watching, but at the same time, it’s often very unsettling and disturbing. The scene in the parking lot after the taping of The Dating Game really perfectly conveyed the same feeling that the character played by Anna would be feeling at the time.
Anyone expecting a typical serial killer movie will be disappointed with this one
I think Anna’s acting and direction in this film were excellent, as were all the performances in general. What I appreciate most about this film is its underlying message or themes about how women can so easily fall prey to the darker side of the male ego and how manipulative some men can be when it comes to women, such as exploiting women’s innocence or vulnerability for their own selfish gain. I also appreciate how it shows that society in general (and especially back then) actually encourages and often tolerates this kind of treatment of women, dehumanizing and objectifying them. And as the film shows, even intelligent women are susceptible to the allure of the psychopath, and society alone can make them vulnerable. This message was not only conveyed through the behavior and violence of “Rodney,” but also through the behavior of some other male characters in the film.
But anyone expecting something with more underlying depth will hopefully appreciate it
